With rifles in their backs, 800 Jewish girls and women are driven through Geislingen every day.
Grave of Adolph Schoofs
Former WMF foreman Adolf Schoofs put his own life on the line to treat the Jewish forced laborers humanely. “A highly decent, honorable man,” Lenka Weksberg recalls. “My sister Rosalie was 12, and we had to work at night. He let her sleep and made sure none of the guards discovered her.” During her visit to Geislingen in 2015 (“back then I was a prisoner, today I’m here as a free woman”), her main concern was to visit the grave of this man – an honorary grave of the city of Geislingen – and to honor him with a speech.
